FILM FESTIVAL AWARDS GEORGE CLOONEY FOR
“THE AMERICAN”
(Ischia,
16 June 2010) Ischia Film Festival, the only international
competition dedicated to film location, gives the Foreign
Award 2010 to "The American", directed by Anton
Corbijn and starring George Clooney. shot in Abruzzo and based
on the novel " A very private Gentleman" by Martin
Booth, tells the story of an artful assassin with a lengthy
record. When an assignment goes wrong , in Sweden, and a lover
ends up dead, he vows that the next job will be his last .
The final obligation takes him to a picturesque town nestled
amongst lush italian hills as Castel del Monte, Castelvecchio
Calvisio, Calascio and Sulmona. Just Clooney decided to shoot
the film in the quake-hit italian city L' Aquila, in 2009,
to help people and revive the economy of the region.
The
Foreign Award is given to the foreign films, in or post production,
that have made possible the development of the Italian territory,
the promotion of its culture and its landscapes. In collaboration
with APE- Association of executive producers, this recognition
is bestowed with the awareness of how important is the work
of executive producers to create a link between cinema and
territory.
In previous editions of Ischia Film Festival, created and
directed by Michelangelo Messina, Foreign Award was given
to important films like “The Passion” by Mel Gibson,
“Angels and Demons” by Ron Howard, “The
life acquatic of Steve Zissou” by Wes Anderson, “007
Casinò Royale” by Martin Campbell.
Ischia
Film Festival, at its 8th edition from 4 to 10 July 2010,
will take place in the natural beauty of the Aragona Castle
and is organized by the Art Movie and Music Association.

The Ischia 2010 Film Festival is now accepting entries for
its eight edition, July 04 - 10, on the beautiful island of
Ischia in the Gulf of Naples.
The Festival recognizes the contributions of international
filmmakers-producers, direc-tors, cinematographers, designers-of
full-length feature films, shorts, and documentaries, specifically
for their artistic use of locations, allowing audiences to
gain profound insight into the beauty and richness of landscapes,
local and international cultures.
As part of its overall mission, the Festival also underscores
the importance of increasing public awareness of environmentally-sustainable
tourism and the need to safeguard artistic and cultural patrimonies.
The deadline for entry submission is 30 April 2010. Regulations
